Woodbridge All Battery Center Honors Youth For Tomorrow
Former NFL coach and current NASCAR team owner Joe Gibbs had a vision a quarter of a century ago of reaching out to at-risk kids. That dream became Youth For Tomorrow, a residential school he founded in Manassas, Virginia, and one that has changed the lives of almost 1,000 young people during that time. Interstate All Battery Center of Woodbridge, Virginia is honoring Youth For Tomorrow during the month of October with a special opportunity for store customers.
Interstate All Battery Center of Woodbridge will make a donation to Youth For Tomorrow of 10% of every sale at the store during October when customers present a special coupon. Coupons can be picked up at the Interstate All Battery Center booth at the 25th Youth For Tomorrow Country Fair/Auction on Saturday, Oct. 2 in Manassas. Each coupon provides a 10% discount on purchases for consumers at the store during October.
“Youth For Tomorrow has given new hope and a new life for so many boys and girls in our communities for a long time,” Interstate All Battery Center of Woodbridge franchisee Anthony Barbour said. “We want to do whatever we can to help make sure this wonderful facility keeps doing what they are doing for our youth for many years to come.”
In 1982, when NFL players were on strike, Gibbs, then the Washington Redskins coach, had a lot of time on his hands. A man of deep faith, he spent much of his time away from football ministering to young men who were being sheltered by the government. But what he saw was troubling, as most of the boys he met had already been in trouble with the law, but they wanted to change. Gibbs wanted to help them make that change, and he went to work to establish a facility where at-risk kids could live in a family-like atmosphere and receive help getting their studies back on track, and in the end, turn their lives around. The doors to Youth For Tomorrow opened in August, 1986.
“For many of our 25 years of service to at-risk children at Youth For Tomorrow, Interstate Batteries has been there with support for our kids,” Gibbs said. “Without their outstanding commitment, we could not provide the care and services they need to lead a productive life.”
The 25th Annual YFT Country Fair and Auction is hosted on the Youth For Tomorrow campus in Manassas, Virginia, and features live and silent auction items, including vacation packages and NASCAR and NFL tickets.
