INTERSTATE TO SIGN 110TH CENTER
Dallas-based Interstate Battery has broadened its scope over the years by expanding its Interstate All Battery Center stores via franchising and is about to surpass the 100-store mark. Currently, there are locations in 33 states, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. And, Interstate Battery will be signing its 100th location on May 30.
The chain is concentrated in the Midwest and growing in California and Arizona. Interstate All Battery Centers service more than just the automotive sector. Each store carries about 13,000 batteries or power solutions. About 35 to 40 percent of the sales are automotive-related.
“It carries all types of batteries, from the battery for your watch to your cell phone to your laptop, all the way up to a forklift battery,” said Justin Darland, Interstate All Battery Center director of franchise development. “We use the term power solutions for batteries. Our franchisees’ goal is to provide power solutions for everything. Our commitment to our customer is to have it, find it or build it.”
Plans call for franchises throughout the entire United States. “Our model calls for 300 locations nationwide by the year 2012,” Darland said. “Our system has grown by 100 percent in the last 24 months. We had our largest franchisee signing month in April when we signed 12 franchisees.”
