Interstate All Battery Center honors elementary schools for recycling efforts
Interstate All Battery Center franchisee Nancy Breen, who operates stores in Ames and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, partnered with the University of Northern Iowa & Recycle Reuse Technology Center earlier this year to encourage elementary school students in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to collect old batteries for recycling.
At the end of the week-long campaign, the total number of batteries was weighed to see which school collected the most, and the winner was awarded an ice cream party. Together, students collected 12,876 pounds of batteries!
On May 20, Nancy’s All Battery Center team planted trees at four Cedar Falls elementary schools to recognize students’ participation in the program.
